Piece Description:
The term ‘describing the world’ had a specific meaning for sixteenth century geographers: ‘to describe’ was a geometrical task, an important part of making a map. But a more modern sense of 'description' works too: Map-makers were imagining interpreting and interpolating. In turn, their work inspired travellers to seek the unknown edges and boundaries.
